I DON'T WANT IT TO BE WINTER ALREADY, BUT...

Well, previews of new collections always make you anxious for the new season, no? ^-^
Just look at the new A.P.C. collection. A.P.C. is definitely one of my favourite brands ( but actually I don't own anything A.P.C., how is that possible??) I'll make it my goal for this season, find something A.P.C. for my wardrobe. What is YOUR favourite piece? (check out their website too for more awesomeness).

LF MARKEY AW09

New label crush? Haha, look at these exclusive images from the A/W 09 lookbook from LF MARKEY, and enjoy! (This is the only place on the web where you'll find these, so go and take a look before anyone else ^-^!)

LFMARKEY.COM

Don't you just love the first dress with the sheer top & velours skirt? I know I do. Inspiration for this collection lies somewhere between the Tudors & 80's evening wear. Crazy but beautiful. I love how the pictures from the lookbook look like some sort of Renaissance portraits, but have macbooks & other high tech stuff in them.

Designer behind the label is Louise Markey, trained at Central Saint Martins. What I got from the LF MARKEY website:
"The signature style of LF Markey is that of minimalism, bold colours and shapes, comfort and natural fibres, understated luxury, high-quality manufacture and a sense of play."
Oh and for those who know the online retailer ASOS.com ( short for As Seen On Screen), LF Markey has also been invited to design a collection for them to launch this Summer! Exciting isn't it?

ONE MORE TIME

Paris fashion week is over and this means the new fall 09 collections are all done. I have some mixed feelings about some of the shows I was looking forward to see, but I guess you can't always love everything =)
If I had to pick my favourites, I'd choose Dries Van Noten - Lanvin - Miu Miu - Nina Ricci - Maison Martin Margiela - Marni!

Well, this is the very last show I still have to show you. Miu Miu makes the perfect end for these 4 fashion-filled weeks:

I love what Miuccia Prada did for Miu Miu this time. The last few seasons weren't really my kind of thing, but this is just perfect. Loving the drop-waist, the clean cuts & simple colours.

I hope you all enjoyed my fashion show recaps, I know some of you did, I really really appreciate all the positive comments you leave here!

ONLY A FEW SHOWS LEFT

Photobucket
Picture from fashionologie.com

I was curious to see the Chloé show since it's only Hannah MacGibbon's second show (well third if you count in prefall) for the fashion house and she hasn't WOW-ed me yet. Unfortunately she didn't either this time. The collection isn't bad at all, I like a lot of the pieces, but I don't think the show is jaw-droppingly amazing. The colours are a bit too boring for me... I wish it was more like the first show Paulo Melim Andersson did for Chloé, remember? THAT was wow. Oh well, here are some of the looks I liked:

I do like the accessories though!

Next up, Louis Vuitton! I'm not sure yet if I love it or hate it, I'm pretty done with the eighties for the moment, but there are definitely some great pieces! See for yourself:

Oh and a close-up on the bunny ears, just too cute!

I still have Miu Miu left, but I'll post that tomorrow. I can already tell you that I love it though!

ALMOST OVER...

Photobucket

Fashion week is coming to an end, but I still have some shows left to share with you!
Have you seen Chanel yet? If you haven't, here are some of the looks:

Photobucket

Photobucket

I wasn't too impressed with Chanel (Well, the backpack is cute, Karl). It's just a bit... blah? I don't know, what do you think about it?

What I did like was this lookbook for the womenswear debut from Tim Hamilton. I really really like these! The jackets look great and I have to admit that these thigh-high boots go really well with these looks. Even the hats are lovely!

Pictures from Refinery29

So many collections seem to be black & white (No, not you Dries, but we already talked about that ^-^). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... Oh well! Looking forward to seeing Chloé tomorrow!

IT EVEN GETS BETTER

See this is why Paris fashion week is my favourite: after seeing Nina Ricci & Lanvin, I thought it couldn't get any better. Well it did.
Dries Van Noten is now officially my hero. I loved how incredibly optimistic the collection looked, the colours were AMAZING! It almost felt like a spring collection! What I loved too was how relaxed the pieces were but still so elegant. You can say the clothes may have looked a bit too dull, but the colours certainly make up for that. (I'm kind of a colour-person, can you tell? ^-^)

Photobucket

All pictures from style.com

And it seems like Dries Van Noten wasn't the only designer who didn't want to do an all-black collection. Givenchy had a great dark blue (besides black & white). I have no clue how anyone would pull off that hair-dress but you've got to admit it does look stunning. And those white dresses have Godess written all over it.

Photobucket
Pictures from style.com

And we're not done yet (told you Paris was my favourite ^-^) Stella McCartney is on her way!
I didn't love the ENTIRE collection, but aaaah how can you say no to these silhouettes:

Photobucket
Pictures from style.it

But yikes, all these blazers! I've seen like a million super amazing blazers + leather jackets, how am I ever going to track down THE perfect one for fall? What I do know is that I'm really into that grey blazer on the bottom row next to miss McCartney herself (who was also wearing an amazing black blazer herself, hence the picture)

THE BELGIANS ARE COMING!

Photobucket
Picture from fashionologie.com

Since Belgium doesn't really have a fashion week of it's own, most of the Belgian designers show their collections in Paris. We already saw Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci, but today I have some more Belgians for you! (The picture above is from the Maison Martin Margiela show)
I have pictures from Maison Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester & Haider Ackermann (OK I hear you thinking: 'Hey! Haider isn't Belgian!' True, but he was trained in Antwerp so I'd like to think of him as a Belgian, I'm sure he wouldn't mind!). Can't wait to see pictures of the Dries Van Noten show too, he's always one of my favourites!
Let's also not forget the other Belgians:
- A.F. Vandevorst who had a great show a few days ago
- Bernhard Willhelm (actually German, but trained in Antwerp as well)
- Bruno Pieters (who has his own line but also designs for the avant garde line Hugo from Hugo Boss as well as the men's line from Delvaux, Europe's oldest leather goods company)
- Kris Van Assche (has his own label and designs for Dior Homme, but it's rumoured he'll be replaced by Gareth Pugh!)
- Veronique Branquinho, also had her show yesterday in Paris and is the new Artistic Director of Delvaux
- Cathy Pill, a young belgian designer, especially known for her amazing graphic prints. You won't find her show on style.com (yet!), but her collection is being sold on Browns.com, I think that says enough...
- Walter Van Beirendonck, as with Cathy Pill, you won't find his collection on style.com (probably because it isn't commercial enough) but always very creative! He is also head of the famous Antwerp Fashion Academie.

All of these designers graduated from the Antwerp Fashion Academie, except for Olivier Theyskens & Cathy Pill, who graduated from La Cambre in Brussels.
People like them make me proud of being Belgian!

Ok enough talking for today, let the images speak for themselves!

And a bonus, not Belgian, but you'll love it: Comme des Garçons!

Gotta love Rei Kawakubo! She called it "Wonderland, where nothing is as it seems."

LANVIN BABY!

Photobucket
Picture from fashionologie.com

I was so looking forward to the Lanvin show, it's always one of my favourites. And I have to say, Alber Elbaz didn't disappoint!

The first dress on the third row is just SO perfect to me!
And here are some of the more detailed views:

One last thing, watch Suzy Menkes' report for the Internation Herald Tribune & the New York Times. Make sure you watch untill the end of the video, the applause Alber gets is really heartwarming and you HAVE to see his little wave on the catwalk! ^-^

MORE

Yesterday I showed you pictures of the Balmain & Rue du Mail show, today I hope to amaze you with some other GREAT shows. (Some of you commented & I read this on other blogs too, the Balmain show was indeed a LOT like the spring/summer collection, and I couldn't agree more. I still love what he presented though, I just hope this won't be what we'll be seeing from Balmain for the next 5 seasons! Some change would be nice!)

Ok, back to business, I have some really great pictures from the Nina Ricci show. I was watching them with my mouth hanging open, totally surprised. You see, there were all these rumours going around that Nina Ricci FIRED Olivier Theyskens (I mean, seriously?) and I thought for his last collection (if the rumours are indeed true) he would, I don't know, keep it simple or so? Well, he didn't (and I'm GLAD he didn't!). See for yourself!

I don't really like the shoes in terms of being 'pretty', but they truly are amazing.

I love this glitter unitard, not very wearable, but gee, can I say amazing again?

And here are some of the looks:
Photobucket

Theyskens still makes THE most beautiful gowns.

Ok and I'm not finished yet, here are pictures from the Rick Owens show. Amazing shapes as usual, and even a colour other than black & grey, LIGHT BLUE!

PARIS, IT'S ON!

Photobucket
Picture from fashionologie.com

Exciting! Exciting!
Balmain:

Photobucket
Pictures from vogue.fr

I can't believe how wearable these pieces are! I'm in love! And you can never have enough blazers, isn't it? They still have the strong shoulders we saw in the spring/summer collection, well actually we've seen strong shoulders in practically EVERY show this season. Great job Monsieur Decarnin!

I was going to show you pictures of the Balenciaga show next, but... I actually didn't really like it. Really disappointed in this one, I was really looking forward to it, but it was just not me. So instead I'll show you Rue du Mail, not quite the same, but very lovely as well!

I really like the gray suit, great jacket & perfect pants!

TWO TIMES MARNI TODAY

Sorry for being away for the last few days, I've done some shopping (probably a little post about that tomorrow!) and had to deal with some stuff from school.
BUT! I have the Marni Fall Winter 09-10 for you. I LOVED this collection, has to be my favourite from Milan! You'll see why:

Photobucket
Pictures from style.com

Consuelo Castiglioni, this is one of your best Marni shows ever!

And why the two times Marni in my post title? Well, while browsing the new collection on style.com, I quickly discovered I hadn't seen the Marni Prefall show yet!! I'm so glad I found out about this, because the prefall show was amazing as well...

Photobucket
Pictures from style.com

I am really impressed with the prefall 09 shows, (remember Proenza Schouler? I can't get over how much I loved that one! Oh and Jack & Lazaro, you can send me those pieces now, ok? Thanks!)

And totally non-related to this topic, you can now follow me on Twitter! Drop me a line if you're on twitter as well, I'd love to read all of your adventures haha ^-^

PANTONE + PAINT SPLATTER

Oh these fashion weeks! I have 2 London shows to show you, first up is House of Holland who was inspired by Pantone samples! He only used the 5 colours pictured below but all with that same grade effect. Although the clothes aren't really that special, his idea really made me smile!

Photobucket
Pictures from style.com

And second is Josh Goot! He started off with real simple silhouettes and ended with a splash!

IN LONDON

So! London fashion week...
I can already show you one of the collections I'd been excited to see: Christopher Kane!
Photobucket
Pictures from style.com

Black & white can go horribly wrong you know, LUCKILY, this didn't happen with Christopher Kane!
I can only thank him for this great collection, I'd wear the bottom outfits in a heartbeat!

ONE TO WATCH

This is only his second collection, but I think Julian Louie made a bigger impression on me then some of the other well-known designers. So as I said, one to watch!

MORE FROM NY

I am a bit disappointed in the latest fashion shows. Don't get me wrong, it's not all bad, but I just hope there will be at least 1 show that blows my mind away. Up untill now that hasn't happened yet.
Ok, so I have a few collections lined up:

Marc by Marc Jacobs: not bad, there are some peaces I really love, but I feel like I've seen it all before...
Photobucket

Next, Doo.ri: I liked this one, I'm glad she kept it simple (except for the tights, but it's still a fashion show, right?^-^)
Photobucket

And finally, Proenza Schouler: I thought their prefall show was amazing (remember?) and maybe I was expecting a bit too much... I liked some of the jackets & pants, but Proenza Schouler, what's up with the bags?? I know, you don't want to give yet another version of the PS1, but I don't like the new handbag. Really really don't. WHAT HAPPENED? =(
Photobucket

I'd love to hear what you all think about the shows. I feel a bit bad about not liking them actually... So tell me, good shows or not?

AT LEAST MARC DIDN'T DISAPPOINT

Marc Jacobs fall09... I especially love the 2nd & 3rd dress!

Friday, February 13, 2009

YIKES!

I have so many things to do, but I can't seem to get around doing them all! Is anyone having this problem too? (Or should I just feel weird and shut up now ^-^?)

Photobucket
Picture from FFFFOUND.COM

Oooh and I'm very excited about the fall09 shows, can't wait to see them all!
Here's the very first one, and it's by one of my favourites, ACNE!
Photobucket

This totally proves that you can never have enough LBDs, doesn't it?
