ATELIER MAYER

I was kind of surprised by what dropped in the inbox about 2 weeks ago, Atelier Mayer - the online vintage luxury clothing boutique - is launching a magazine! Atelier Mayer is the site you should bookmark if you're looking for exquisite vintage pieces by Hermès, Yves Saint Laurent, Lacoste, Givenchy and so many others.

Why would an online retailer publish a magazine? Well, Carmen Haid, Atelier Mayer's founder, wanted to create something tangible you could keep forever, an inspirational publication about fashion and art.

The magazine is going to be released twice a year, get your copy over here!

Check back on the 16th of July for a little sneak peek inside the magazine!

EDIT: The time has come so here it is, a little feature of one of the articles. It's about vintage airline costumes and kind of fun to read. This isn't the entire article though, if you want to read it get yourself a copy of Atelier Mayer magazine!

SPILLED MILK

Every time I go to my local international magazine store, I have to keep myself from buying too many magazines. There are just so many great ones out there. And on top of the ones on paper - in come the online magazines!

One of those wonderful online magazines is Spilled Milk. Marie Lid Aske, editor in chief of Spilled Magazine, started it as a final assignment for her degree in graphic design and I guess she just kept going after that. After all, when you're doing what you love, why not just keep doing it? :)

Take a look at this editorial photographed & styled by Marie herself, and check out the rest of the issue on their website!

RUSSH

Still haven't found a place that sells Russh magazine over here, but I'm going to keep looking for it. They always have such great editorials!
This one is another fine example, from Russh #38: Just like sisters.

photographer: Benny Horne
stylist: Stevie Dance
models: Bambi Northwood, Lisanne de Jong & Hannah Holman

I didn't know Bambi acutally had a tattoo of Bambi on her wrist... Kind of cute though!

LIPSTICK

I'm pretty excited to talk to you about this new publication called Exhibition. The wonderful Exhibition team even sent over a copy (BIG THANK YOU) and boy, what a copy it is!

This is not your average magazine. I'm talking gigantic size (about 50 x 40cm), high quality images and an incredible list of contributors any magazine would dream of.

Exhibition is an annual publication and will revolve around 1 theme each issue. What better way to start a new luxury publication with an iconic, yet simple product of the luxury industry: The Lipstick. It's really fun to see how each contributor interprets this little stick of colour in his/her own way. Some focus on the actual use of the lipstick, whereas others are more inspired by the strong colours it can hold.

I'll show you a few shots of what's inside, but there's more to be seen...

The amazing cover is a collaboration between photographer Richard Burbridge and make-up artist Peter Philips (yes, the man behind Chanel make-up). No fussy headlines, just clean simple and decent design.

Guido Mocafico's still-life portraits of Pierre Hermé's pastries. The pastries are inspired by lipstick colours of Dior, Givenchy,...

Willy Vanderperre, one of my personal favourite photographers.

The model is wearing a lipstick crown by Peter Philips for Chanel.

And then some more pictures...

Another one of the Richard Burbridge x Peter Philips collaboration.

So, what say you? If you liked these I strongly suggest you check out the rest of the magazine, it's available either at Colette and since yesterday, at a selection of bookstores worldwide!

LABEL

Look what the mailman brought in today: a new Belgian magazine, Label - Fashion Focus! All the way from Belgium's fashion capital Antwerp.
Who doesn't love the very first issue of a new magazine? Unfortunately you'll only be able to buy this in Belgium (for now?), but that doesn't mean I can't show it some love.

LOVE this cover!

The articles inside are really worth reading, they aren't 'just' about fashion, they really want to bring more to the readers than your average fashion magazine. More behind the scenes, inspiration, collaborations, etc.

Beautiful editorial:

DUJOUR

Maybe you've already heard about Dujour magazine. Their website was already bookmarked on my computer, but I hadn't read any of their issues yet. Well, this morning I had the chance to review their latest issue, the Art Issue. (Beautiful cover!)

Picture from dujour's deviantart

The magazine itself is as fun as their website, I really enjoyed reading it. There is just the right amount of everything: news, trends, editorials & (well it IS the Art issue) artwork! There were beautiful drawings by artists Angeline Melin, Sandra Suyillos (my absolute favourite), Leigh, Arksiniya & Kelly Smith. Look below to see their works!

The editorials in Dujour were absolutely gorgeous as well. But to see them you'll have to get yourself a copy. To view more information on that, look here. I read my Dujour magazine online, but you can also get a print copy. But reading it online is cheaper + links to websites are clickable in the magazine (easy!).
Oh and on the list of contributors I spotted Katlin from the Urple blog, she is an intern at Dujour (well actually it was Katlin who first introduced me to Dujour!). Good job Katlin!
