MARK YOUR CALENDARS

So, I'm leaving on a 2 week trip in about... 5 hours (have yet to go to sleep), but I couldn't leave without telling you about a few things I'd like you to see. (Be sure to mark your calendars for these, I even put the dates in bold so you can find them more easily.)

First: Take a look at the A/W 11/12 collection by Ysterike, a lovely label I already mentioned a few months ago (here) - the sweetest dresses, the loveliest shirts & shorts & whatnot... Basically the perfect cute wardrobe. Sarah Lespagnol (the designer behind Ysterike) just launched her new website AND, good news for all of you, as from 15th september, the e-shop will be open as well!

Second: LN-CC is doing a private preview (ALSO on 15th september) of the collaborative collection between Japanese brand SASQUATCHfabrix & The Inoue Brothers. It's an installation called 'Modern Ninja and the Black Fist' and if you RSVP here you can all go watch it! If I wasn't on a trip that day I would've loved to see this, so if you're around, make sure you drop by!!

Third: My dutch readers might know this already, but the music platform Subbacultcha is now launching in Belgium as well! If you're into music, you're going to love this.

Subscribe to the magazine and get it delivered to your doorstep each & every month PLUS: visit the concerts organised by Subbacultcha for free(!). Sounds perfect, right? Go on, subscribe now!

Fourth: as a reminder, there's still time to visit the exposition I mentioned in the previous post, Bergen a pop-up book! It runs untill monday 5th september!

Ok I think that was about it. See you all in 2 weeks!

BERGEN, A POP-UP BOOK

So this is a post particularly directed to my fellow Belgians, but of course, you're all welcome to join in (or visit!) any time.

All right, so there's a really cool travelling exhibition/pop-up shop you'll be able to visit from 1st - 5th september in Brussels. It's called 'Bergen, a pop-up book' (you know, as in Bergen, Norway). It's built around 4 designers (all hailing from Bergen, hence the name!) and 1 perfume, supported by the Norwegian Fashion Institute and curated by the designers themselves.

The designers have chosen to showcase their work in this exhibition rather than a regular runway show, since their work is more conceptual and it just feels more natural to do this sort of thing - and rightfully so!

The participating designers are (be sure to click the link if you want to find out more about them!: Norwegian Rain,T Michael,Hansen,dMajuscule & DoubleYou Perfume.

This should give you all the info you need.

As I said, this is an exhibition as well as a pop-up shop, so you'll be able to score some of the designers' past & present work. The exhibition is travelling as well (Brussels is only their 3rd stop), so if you can't make it to this one in time, let's hope it'll come visit a city near you soon :)!

And if you're STILL debating wether or not you should go, some of the best stores in Brussels are right around the corner (all around rue Antoine Dansaert & especially Hunting and Collecting in rue des Chartreux!)so make sure you pop in for a quick visit while you're there (you won't regret it, your wallet just might haha).

FRAGMENTS AMERICANA

I visited this exhibition about 2 weeks ago in Brussels and I just thought I'd let you know how great I think it was... (I'd been meaning to visit ever since I read about it in January!)

I am of course talking about the Fragments Americana exhibition by Hedi Slimane at the Almine Rech Gallery. There's a parallel exhibition in Paris as well, (also at the Almine Rech Gallery) so you can check that one out if you're around. Beware though, they both close THIS saturday, so hurry up if you can :)!

Oh hello, yes, that's Immi again! - this was taken on the same day as the streetstyle pics
These pics are by me, but of course, the artwork in the pictures is by Hedi Slimane, found at Almine Rech Gallery

LIPSTICK

I'm pretty excited to talk to you about this new publication called Exhibition. The wonderful Exhibition team even sent over a copy (BIG THANK YOU) and boy, what a copy it is!

This is not your average magazine. I'm talking gigantic size (about 50 x 40cm), high quality images and an incredible list of contributors any magazine would dream of.

Exhibition is an annual publication and will revolve around 1 theme each issue. What better way to start a new luxury publication with an iconic, yet simple product of the luxury industry: The Lipstick. It's really fun to see how each contributor interprets this little stick of colour in his/her own way. Some focus on the actual use of the lipstick, whereas others are more inspired by the strong colours it can hold.

I'll show you a few shots of what's inside, but there's more to be seen...

The amazing cover is a collaboration between photographer Richard Burbridge and make-up artist Peter Philips (yes, the man behind Chanel make-up). No fussy headlines, just clean simple and decent design.

Guido Mocafico's still-life portraits of Pierre Hermé's pastries. The pastries are inspired by lipstick colours of Dior, Givenchy,...

Boris Ovini

Willy Vanderperre, one of my personal favourite photographers.

The model is wearing a lipstick crown by Peter Philips for Chanel.

And then some more pictures...

Another one of the Richard Burbridge x Peter Philips collaboration.

So, what say you? If you liked these I strongly suggest you check out the rest of the magazine, it's available either at Colette and since yesterday, at a selection of bookstores worldwide!

IN THEIR SHOES

If you're in Paris/will be in Paris before 30th november, be sure to check out this exhibition 'In their shoes', it's about -yes- SHOES! The few pictures I've seen are amazing, and they're probably even better in real life.
The exhibition is by photographers Kate Bellm and Dylan Don and they've shot friends, strangers and apparently even a stripper's shoes. Go on, have a look at these, and if you're in the neighbourhood (Galerie M. H. Karst in Paris -30 rue de Malte, in the 11th arrondissement) , go check it out for yourself.

And second, VBS.TV (Vice magazine's web tv) teamed up with Intel for a series of videos: Créateurs du futur (sorry forgot to mention this, it's from Vice France, so french videos!). There are interviews with 8 French artists either in music, cinema, design,... Also featured are french DJ's Yuksek & DJ Mehdi (2 of my personal favourite!), but there's also a video from the creator of Surface To Air which I found very interesting. Watch the videos here!
To celebrate the project, Vice is throwing 2 parties, one in Paris on 30th November in Palais de Tokyo with Yuksek & Metronomy performing (you don't want to miss that! Metronomy is amazing live and I'm sure Yuksek is too). If you want to attend, register here.
