GARDEN PARTY

Resort season is in full swing and of course, I had to share some of it with you.
Some brands do lookbooks for resort, others do small runway shows, and Stella McCartney? Well, she throws a garden party. A super lovely one that is - pictures are by Mr. Newton by the way. Oooh what I'd give to have a garden party right now in stead of being stuck behind my desk, inside.

The collection itself looks really really cool, love the prints - something similar can be seen at the Givenchy resort collection which I love A LOT as well. So check that one out while you're at it!

CHANEL À SAINT TROPEZ!

We all know Karl Lagerfeld likes to travel to show his resort & prefall collections for Chanel. The prefall collection was shown in Shanghai, last year's resort colection was in Venice, this year, Saint Tropez was the place to be. Models arrived via speedboat (how appropriate) & walked the runway right next to the port. The collection felt very seventies to me and I can't deny I'm a tad relieved designers are getting over the 80s trend. Enough is enough, right? But let's look at some pictures, shall we:

See how people were all seated in these fun red chairs? How perfect is that!

Look! Karl is getting all frivolous in purple! I think I prefer his usual black + white attire though, but oh well, it is St Tropez after all...

And yet again, Kaiser Karl made a short movie to set the tone for his collection, watch it if you haven't seen it already, it's quite entertaining.

VIONNET

Another Resort collection today, Madeleine Vionnet! Yes, she's back! Well not Madeleine herself of course. After Sophia Kokosalaki and Marc Audibet, Matteo Marzotto was asked to come and design the line (he used to work at Miuccia Prada!). If you don't know Madeleine Vionnet, well, she was the one who introduced Bias-cut and Grecian style dresses into the fashion world (she was called the "Queen of the bias cut" and "the architect among dressmakers"). Read her Wiki page if you've never heard of her. And yes that is an order! ^-^
OK, the collection itself isn't bad at all, Audibet played it safe, he clearly got his inspiration from the original Vionnet dresses, lots of Grecian style dresses, but I liked it. That red dress on the third row is something I'd like to wear, yes please! Oh and all the gold cuffs really do complement the dresses!

And I'm going to repeat this untill someone hits me with a stick, but there is still time to enter the Current/Elliott giveaway! Hooray!

BLA BLA

I'm still studying hard, the nightmare will be over on wednesday, can't wait.
Here's what I've been doing when I'm not studying:

Proenza Schouler Resort 2010... I really loved this, especially the white dress + blue sleeveless jacket! The necklace & sandals are really nice too.

And part 2 of the collection, LOVE the outfit on the bottom left!

Proenza Schouler was asked to show their collection at Pitti , Florence - Italy, and they made a video featuring performance artist Kalup Linzy instead of an ordinary runway show. You can watch it on style.com (click on the picture below). The video also featured Liya Kebede & Chloé Sevigny. I honestly didn't like the video though, it's called 'Sampled and left ova', does that say enough? Oh well, the collection was great so I'm not complaining, but please Jack & Lazaro, don't make videos like these anymore, mmkay?

CAN IT BE SUMMER ALREADY?

Eeeek sorry for the lack of updates! Busy Busy!
I wanted to post about the rest of the resort collections, but to be honest, none of them really stood out for me. Sad, I know, it could just be me though. Oh well anyway, I couldn't restrain myself from posting SOMETHING and what better to post than my all-time favourite: Lanvin by Alber Elbaz! Big pictures this time because there's a LOT to see, and by a lot I really mean a lot. Maybe too much? Well, you could use the word over-the-top on some of the looks, but if you think away some of the accessories -not ALL of them!- the looks are great.

I can't believe how well the jumpsuit and the sneakers go together! Sneakers never looked so chic!

The dress on the left is pure Lanvin and I'm loving it.

But PLEASE, tell me what YOU think of it, I'd love to hear everyone's opinion!

PS: e-shopping alert! First: new arrivals on yoox.com (winter collection, click on PREVIEW)! I've already spotted quite a few nice things, maybe I'll do a post on that later. Maybe. And 2nd: -40% on a great deal of the Summer collection over at Acne Jeans! Yaay!

LOOK WHAT MADE ME HAPPY TODAY

Can I say perfect? Of course I can, It's Stella McCartney modeled by Anouck Lepere, a resort collection doesn't get any better than that! Can you see the first look? It's the SUPER amazing gorgeous jumpsuit Stella wore a few weeks back to the Met Gala in New York. I asked her in my post to sew me one, and well, there you have it. Now I only need the money to buy it teehee ^-^ Oh well, anyway, be sure to check out the rest of the collection on style.com or wherever you want to check it, this isn't even half of it and I tell you, it's worth making time for ;)

BURBERRY + THAKOON

Two more collections, Burberry & Thakoon!

Burberry was very elegant as usual and they even had some male pieces! (Well, the guys need clothes too, don't they?)

All pictures from style.com

Thakoon: crazy prints, and I loved it.

WANG-A-BANG

There are a lot of Resort shows I want to show you, Marc Jacobs, Thakoon & Burberry will be posted later today!
Let's see: Alexander Wang! I was glad his show had the usual neutral colour palette. I really don't know how he does it though, his pieces look so basic and yet SO effortlessly cool...
I'm not too fond of the shoes though, but then again, I didn't really like his previous shoe designs either ( there, I said it.)

Pictures from style.com

Also: have you heard about stylecaster.com? It's a new website, still in beta-mode and invite only, but luckily I've got a VIP link that will let you register now and try out the site! It's a community where you'll find the latest fashion news & trends, personal shopping advice, etc. Refinery29 called it Facebook, topshop, style.com & a personal shopper rolled into one! So go on and have a look, but beware, the endless contents will keep you busy for hours!

& MORE & MORE & MORE & MORE

New resort shows! Prada + Miu Miu + Rag & Bone!

Prada:

I loved the colours at Prada, the pastels looked great and so did the prints. I'm not a big fan of the little duffle bags, but I do like the big rectangular totes.

Miu Miu:

Miu Miu was nothing special. It's not that I don't like it, I'd kill for the first & last look, but I had hoped to see something more inspirational.

Rag & Bone:

As usual, Rag & Bone had some GREAT tailored pieces. I hope one day I can own my own Rag & Bone blazer!

Ф

Yaay! Resort season! I always get so much inspiration from the prefall & resort shows, maybe because they're more wearable than the pret-à-porter? I don't know :) Now, I already showed you the Chanel resort in Venice (if you don't know what I'm talking about, click here), let's take a look at Phi shall we? Phi is alllllways one of my favourites (take a look at the prefall collection here, it had me drooling all over the place) -so does this collection.

I thought the prints weren't all that (I'm very picky when it comes to prints) but as usual, the jackets are great & very covetable and so are the skirts & shorts. Well about the shorts, I really like the surf trunk/biking shorts worn with the skirts and the short. I liked it when Ricardo Tisci did it for the Givenchy spring-summer 09 men's show and I still like it.

And just recently, I saw this picture on the sartorialist. Cute no?

Totally off-topic, but how could I post the first picture and not post the close-up?

RESORT IN VENICE

Yesterday Karl Lagerfeld showed the new Chanel Resort collection for 2010 in Venice, Italy. The pictures from the show made me wish I was there. A beautifully lit walk along the beach in Venice, just as the sun was setting, does it get any better than that?

Why Venice? Well, Gabrielle Chanel was born under the sign of Leo on the 19th of August in 1883. She collected models of lions for her apartment and the lion became some sort of biographical seal for her. Now you may or may not know, but the lion is also the symbol of the city of Venice, and Chanel loved it there. Seems like a nice hommage of Karl to show the collection there, no?

This was the opening of the show. The bathing suits under these cloaks look amazing... (you can see more of them on style.com)

And instead of wearing masks on sticks as is traditional in Venice, the models wore sunglasses on sticks!
The collection itself didn't really wow me, it was good but not great. My favourite look though is the middle one on the first row.
