ALAÏA & GIVENCHY

So it's couture season again (technically it's already over!) and here are my two favourite shows: Azzedine Alaïa & Givenchy.

I've never featured Alaïa on here before -not because I don't like his work- but it's probably due to the fact that he hadn't done a show (edit: by that I mean a runway show, thanks for pointing that out Elixe!) in... 8 years! Wow. According to style.com the audience gave him a standing ovation at the end and if I'd been there I would've happy clapped with them, great job Mr. Alaïa! It's easy to spot an Alaïa dress or skirt or coat in my opinion, just look at the amazing structure each and every single one of these pieces has... Outstanding.

And yes, Givenchy... It's actually the collection I most look forward to during couture season because, let's be honest, this is what couture should look like. Embellishments galore, peek-a-boo fabrics in this all-white collection (if you leave out that one more golden-toned dress, not featured on here but take a look here). I've said it before and I'll say it again: Mr. Tisci, you're a genius.

The question of the day is... was Anna Wintour at the Alaia show? And if so, was she part of the clapping?

Alaia has shown (brilliant) collections these past years, this is just his first RUNWAY in 8 years, he usually shows in his atelier and sends out pictures after.

Oh Alaïa... <3

I'm still not 100% sold on Givenchy couture. Call me old fashioned, but I somehow feel having an actual show is part of couture.
